The hourly wage rate for this position is $22 . Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. How you will make an impact: You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee, espresso drinks and related food and beverage items to customers. In addition to barista duties, this role also functions as a Market Attendee, providing general support across café and micro market operations.
This includes attending the micro market, restocking, assisting FOH kitchen with salad preparation, front‑facing service, building pizzas, operating turbo ovens in a fast‑paced environment, and completing monthly inventory duties for both barista and market operations.
The Barista plays a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by preparing high‑quality beverages, maintaining a clean and welcoming service environment, and upholding Compass Group Canada’s standards for safety, service, and operational excellence. This role supports daily café operations, engages with guests in a friendly and professional manner, and contributes to a positive team culture.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages in accordance with brand and recipe standards.
- Deliver outstanding guest service by greeting customers, taking orders accurately, and ensuring a warm, welcoming café atmosphere.
- Maintain product quality through proper use of equipment, consistent beverage preparation, and adherence to food safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Support café operations including restocking supplies, rotating inventory, and ensuring all service areas remain clean, organized, and compliant with Compass Group Canada policies.
- Perform Market Attendee duties by attending the micro market, restocking, and supporting general service needs.
- Assist FOH kitchen operations by prepping salads, building pizzas, operating turbo ovens, and supporting fast‑paced service periods.
- Complete monthly inventory counts for barista supplies, café stock, and micro market items.
- Operate POS systems efficiently and process card‑only transactions accurately.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation protocols, including WHMIS, HACCP, HSQA and company‑specific procedures.
- Collaborate with team members to meet service demands, support peak periods, and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace culture.
- Represent the brand by maintaining a professional appearance, demonstrating product knowledge, and promoting a guest‑first mindset at all times.
- Uphold service standards by promoting and encouraging client participation in the Food back Survey.
