The salary range for this position is $75,000 to $80,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. The General Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operation including: budgeting, financial management and weekly analysis, implementation and ongoing success of retail and marketing programs, catering services, and branded concepts.
Now, if you were to come on board as a General Manager, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Manage staff and day-to-day operation to ensure all contractual service levels are met and maintained in all areas including administration, staffing/scheduling, client/customer relations, service and food quality.
- Complete all financial reporting including payroll, period summaries and sales reports in a timely and accurate manner, maintain appropriate budgetary, cost and inventory controls.
- Human Resource and Labour Relations management including complete administrative and personnel files, collective agreement, hiring, training and discipline.
- Assist with menu management, food cost controls and production including monitoring and evaluating meals and service to ensure established standards are maintained for both quality and quantity of all meals and snacks.
- Train, develop and lead a team of associates capable of providing great customer service.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the unit by delegating work and providing direction to staff, ensure that all tasks are completed to deliver services and production at the expected level.
- Ensure accurate submissions in Compass systems.
- Observe typical meal service; evaluate food for taste, temperature, appearance, and portion size; investigate complaints regarding unit operation and effect satisfaction solutions.
- Be accountable for client and customer relationship building.
- Ensure catering services are delivered at the expected level and in a timely manner.
- Operate in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, ensuring equitable administration of human resources policies and procedures to facilitate effective employee relations; manage associate files.
- Ensure strict compliance of Compass Quality Assurance and Health and Safety Programs, initiate corrective action as required.
- Train, develop and lead a team of associates capable of providing great customer service.
- Ensure marketing assets and promos are visibly displayed and documented with photos, as stipulated by in-unit marketing and student engagement calendar.
- Other duties as assigned by District Manager.
Now, if you were to come on board as one of our General Managers, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Post-secondary education with at least 5 years of foodservice or related management experience in an equivalent, branded retail food service environment; multi-unit management experience is a must.
- Advanced Food Service Training (AFST) plus Level 1 and 2 Health and Safety Certification training (or willing to complete within 90 days of hire).
- Strong catering experience, including demonstrated experience hosting large events.
- Strong experience dealing with labour relations issues.
- Proven financial management skills, including ability to control product and labour costs on a weekly basis.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills
- Strong management and organizational skills, capable of motivating, leading and developing associates.
- Excellent client relationship and communication skills.
