Join Compass Digital as an Intermediate Site Reliability Engineer and help power the future of hospitality tech! You’ll design, build, and automate cloud-native systems that are reliable, observable, and scalable—working with AWS, Go, TypeScript, serverless, containers, and cutting-edge DevOps tools. Open to candidates across Canada, with preference for those near Toronto or Mississauga in a flexible hybrid setup.
We are a team of high-performing problem solvers with a shared vision: to drive the digital future of hospitality and food commerce. We build a diverse set of products and solutions to serve a wide range of consumer needs.
We are looking for a generalist at heart; someone curious, able to appreciate complexity, and comfortable knowing when to step back and when to dive deep.
This is an intermediate-level role. We expect you to bring:
• 3–5 years of experience in SRE, Software Engineering, DevOps, Platform, or Infrastructure.
• Strong foundational skills in software engineering, infrastructure, and automation .
• The ability to work independently on moderately complex problems while seeking guidance for strategic decisions.
• A desire to grow into senior engineering or technical leadership roles over time.
Our SRE career ladder offers clear pathways into Staff, Principal, and Managerial tracks.
You will work across observability, release engineering, automation, incident response, security, patch management, and SRE advocacy. You will use the latest technologies in cloud and open-source ecosystems to support product teams through solutions, self-service capabilities, and platform guidance.
WHAT WE LIKE TO USE
Our technology stack is primarily cloud-based, and while we currently use
AWS, we welcome experience with Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms. A strong understanding of cloud-native principles matters more than specific provider experience. We value tools and practices that promote automation, containerization, repeatability, and visibility.
Cloud & Infrastructure
• AWS (current primary), Azure, Google Cloud, or other cloud platforms
• Serverless and containerized services: Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, Fargate
• Cloud-agnostic architecture principles
• Infrastructure-as-Code with CDKTF, with planned migration to vanilla Terraform
Languages & Frameworks
• Go
• TypeScript
• Node.js
Observability
• Dynatrace for infrastructure, service, and application monitoring
• Logging, tracing, and metrics tools powered by open telemetry
Practices
• Trunk-Based Development
• CI/CD pipelines, feature flagging, and deployment automation
• Automation, containerization, repeatability, and visibility as core principles
WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING
• Add your voice, skills, and experience to our team
• Help grow and diversify our SRE team and discipline
• Step back to see the big picture, and dive deep when needed
• Design, build, and maintain automation for infrastructure, monitoring, and operations
• Write high-quality, maintainable code to improve reliability and reduce toil
• Build observability into systems from the ground up; make failure visible and actionable
• Evaluate and integrate open-source and commercial tools to increase stability and insight
• Collaborate with product teams to ensure systems are instrumented, secure, and resilient
• Document and share your work with the team and broader SRE community
• Champion a culture of ownership, transparency, and continuous improvement
