The Host/Hostess is responsible for greeting guests and ensuring they are sat at their table in a timely fashion.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome and acknowledge each guest with a smile, eye contact, and a friendly verbal greeting
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists
- Escort customers to assigned dining or bar areas
- Coordinate with wait staff about available seating options
- Cater to guests who require extra attention (e.g. children, special occasion, allergies)
- Assists service staff as needed
- Strong organization skills with ability to work in high pressure situations and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Thank guests with genuine appreciation and provide a fond farewell
- Build relationships with guests
- Adhere to uniform standards and job specific standard operation procedures
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities
- Previous work experience as a Host or Hostess is an asset
- Flexible availability; evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must have a valid Pro Serve Certificate or willing to obtain
- Excellent communication skills via in person
- Previous knowledge using OpenTable is an asset
