ESS Support Services is the market leader in delivering remote food services and integrated support solutions across North America, operating in some of the most challenging and extreme environments. Serving sectors such as Oil & Gas, Mining, Construction, Forestry, Military & Defense, and industrial remote sites, ESS provides end-to-end services including industrial hospitality, facilities management and maintenance, janitorial and accommodation services, safety-critical operations, logistics, workforce mobilization, and remote workforce support for camps, permanent facilities, offshore sites, and specialized installations.
Compass Group Canada is seeking a relationship based and commercially driven executive to lead our ESS North America business as President, ESS North America, including East Coast Catering (ECC).
Reporting to the COO, Healthcare and Remote Services, the President will lead a $350M+ high-growth business delivering complex, safety-critical services across mining, energy, construction, and industrial remote sites throughout North America. This role is a member of the Canadian Executive Leadership Team (ExCom) and is accountable for strategy, performance, growth, and client partnerships.

- Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Set and execute a multi-year strategy to strengthen ESS’s leadership in remote, industrial, and resource sectors.
- Drive profitable growth through client retention, new business acquisition, and strategic account leadership.
- Lead the business in highly competitive, contract-based environments while maintaining long-term partnerships.
- Operational Excellence & Safety
- Full P&L accountability with focus on disciplined execution and margin performance.
- Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring industry-leading standards in safety, compliance, risk management, and remote-site operations.
- Oversee complex logistics, workforce mobilization, and consistent service delivery across geographically dispersed and remote living environments.
- Lead continuous improvement, scalability initiatives, and integration of acquisitions or joint ventures.
- Client, Indigenous & Stakeholder Leadership
- Build trusted senior-level relationships with clients, Indigenous communities, unions, and key partners.
- Position ESS as the partner of choice through operational reliability, innovation, and safety excellence.
- Lead retention strategies, including rebids for a large, complex contract portfolio.
- People & Culture
- Develop high-performing leadership teams across remote and multi-site operations.
- Foster an inclusive, engaged, and safety-driven culture aligned with Compass Group values.
- Strengthen talent pipelines, succession planning, and leadership capability.

- 15+ years of senior leadership experience leading large, multi-site operations in remote services, industrial hospitality, mining, energy, construction, facilities management, or similar sectors.
- Proven success driving growth, operational performance, and safety excellence in complex, remote environments.
- Strong commercial acumen, executive presence, and stakeholder management capability.
- Ability to lead through complexity, change, and geographically dispersed operations.
- Post-secondary degree required; MBA preferred.
- Willingness to travel extensively across North America (30–50%).
