The HSEQ Coordinator is primarily responsible for promoting all aspects of Health, Safety, Environment and Quality Assurance under the guidance of the site HSEQ Manager. This role will focus on ensuring worksite compliance to Legislation, ESS standards, Client requirements and enhancing our existing safety culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and neat appearance at all times on and off duty while on site
- Sets the example by incorporating safe work practices in all activities and following all ESS and client safety policies and procedures;
- Conduct HSEQ Audits and monitor Corrective Action Plan development with regular worksite visits
- Deliver classroom and one-on-one training
- Participate in Operations and HSEQ meetings
- Respond to incidents, injuries and illnesses onsite
- Provide support to Management for incident investigations and lead them in serious incidents
- Interact with external stakeholders such as regulators and clients in person, as well as via email
- Schedule and conduct audits and training sessions
- Make recommendations for improvements in the area of HSEQ and other support functions, H&S and QA standards
- Report deficiencies to Operations and HSEQ Manager
- Monitor and analyze trends using key performance indicators and report on findings
- Meet legislative and Compass HSEQ requirements by respecting operational objectives
- Perform other duties as assigned by the HSEQ Manager
Education and Experience:
- Post-secondary education with a focus on Health and Safely preferred
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in OH&S and/or public health or relevant food safety role
- CRSP/CHSC, NCSO, CSO, HACCP, GFSI
- Valid Advanced Food Safe Certificate (Traincan) ticket must be 3 years or newer.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint required; comfortable with other technology such as smartphones and tablets preferred
- Strong familiarity with technical and theoretical principles of Occupational Health & Safety and/or Quality Assurance (food safety)
- Valid Emergency First Aid – CPR A & AED or higher level certification
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to speak effectively before large and small groups of employees.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
