The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. The Category Development Specialist will be part of the overall Procurement Growth Team and will contribute to the development and ongoing management of our supplier programs by driving continuous improvement of strategies, processes, and activities. This position will be primarily responsible for supporting Category Development with analytics, coordinating, and ensure accuracy of Managed Order Guides, Supplier Information, and Contract Attributes
Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Category Development Specialist, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Primary support in the oversight of managed order guides, preferred manufacturer, and product database
- Champion internal systems and processes for the Foodbuy Category Development team- contract management system, income tracking processes
- Liaison with Category Development and Culinary leaders to ensure correct product is approved on the managed order guide
- Continuous improvement of compliance processes pertaining to Canada.
- Track and communicate all supply chain issues and stock outs as well as timeframe for recovery
- Assist Category Development Managers with spend analysis and vendor target detail at the start of a sourcing project
- Prepare and distribute all scheduled and ad-hoc reports for Compass sustainability program
- Be able to identify cost savings and increased efficiency and effectively communicate these opportunities to Compass Units, Category Managers and Culinary Leads
- Supporting overall purchasing business plan and own the strategic development of category plans within your area of responsibility and ensuring best in class activation to create a long-term growth Agenda and Plan.

- Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
- Expertise in analytics, procurement functions and related requirements with strategic ability.
- Ability to work under direct but limited supervision and exercise strong critical thinking skill.
- High aptitude for learning software programs including Supply Chain, BRAVO, and MS Office programs
- High proficiency level with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required
- Purchasing Experience is a plus
