The salary range for this position is $89,600 to $105,000. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. In addition to base salary, eligible employees may be entitled to other elements of total compensation, which may include group benefits, employer RRSP contributions, and discretionary bonus or incentive programs, where applicable to the role. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation. Further details regarding our total rewards program will be shared by the Talent Acquisition team during the hiring process. Canadian work experience is not a requirement for this role. The District General Manager directs and manages operations to achieve short and long-term profit and total volume objectives, and is accountable for client retention and revenue growth.
Now, if you were to come on board as our District General Manager, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Interpret and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and guidelines to promote consistent application within the district including Quarterly Customer Service Route Rides Quarterly, Grand Opening Events for New Business, Associate Annual Appraisals, Effective Route Scheduling, Four Week Training Program, and other standard operational procedures added as needed
- Ensure District is in compliance with Corporate retailing and purchasing programs as well as minimum standards by product category
- With the Controller’s input and collaboration, develop accurate district budgets and forecasts
- Analyze financial statements and flash reports for areas of profit improvement and recommend action
- Provide operational perspective and quantify potential business opportunities, including review of computations and the validation of assumptions, to ensure proper ROI
- Teach operators on how to better understand and use financial statements
- Provide accurate and relevant data for operational reviews
- Coach accounting staff and operators on how to provide data to other corporate departments
- Analyze existing accounts for opportunities to provide better service and generate a better financial return, including the proper optimization of assets
- Establish and maintain effective client contact at the appropriate client level including identifying clients’ needs, communicating account progress, promoting new Company programs and ensuring clients are aware of current applicable government regulations
- Document business content of client meetings as well as schedule and coordinate placement and/or removal of equipment at accounts
- Conduct and/or monitor customer, client and associate satisfaction surveys
- Participate in the sales process, negotiate contracts and approve new business proformas.
- Ensure consistent and equitable administration of human resource policies, procedures and guidelines to facilitate effective employee relations and support the preferred employer focus
- Oversee Health & Safety meetings, work safely, promote safety and maintain a clean work environment
- Recruit, train, assign, motivate, coach, recognize, develop and performance manage team
- Coordinate union contract negotiations; stay current and abide by all parts of collective bargaining agreements, where applicable
- Establish and maintain effective community relations; participate in professional and civic activities and make appropriate public appearances

- Master’s Degree/MBA preferred
- 5 to 10 years’ related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, develop and performance manage a team
- Analytical; comfortable working extensively with figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages
- Demonstrated practical problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint
- Past experience working in a unionized environment would be an asset
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Flexible for occasional overnight travel as needed
