Job Summary

In accordance with provincial legislation and our commitment to transparent hiring practices, the compensation range for this position is provided. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity. Canadian work experience is not required. Please note that artificial intelligence tools are utilized in the applicant screening process.

Pay range is $50,700 – $58,500 annually.

Now, if you were to come on board as our Hospital Housekeeping and Portering Supervisor, we would ask you to do the following for us:

Supervises, trains and inspects the performance of assigned housekeeping and portering staff to ensure all procedures are completed to unit’s standards.
Maintain responsibility and accountability for Personnel Management Functions of the department. Personnel Management includes new associate interviews, selection, hiring, evaluation and on occasion termination in accordance with Compass Standards, Client Contract and applicable Union Collective Agreement.
Coordinate and support all relevant activities of the housekeeping and portering department with a special emphasis on Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety.
Conduct regular audits to ensure employees are following proper cleaning procedures, document audits in electronic program.
Ensure assigned staff have reported to work and clocked in properly, document late or absent employees.
Document call offs and replace for any shift and coordinate assigned staff breaks.
Complete daily & weekly payroll requirements
Prepare and distribute assignment sheets to staff and review priorities. Communicate additions or changes to the assignment sheets as they arise throughout the shift.
Assign designated keys, pagers, iPads to assigned staff. Maintain accurate record of such assignments and ensure security of keys.
Check all equipment used by staff for proper supplies, neatness, cleanliness and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to correct deficiencies.
Assist staff to ensure highest standards of cleanliness and service and conduct staff training as assigned.
Assisting with the development of best practices for housekeeping and portering services.
Available to work flexible hours to meet hospital’s needs.
Other duties as assigned.

At least two (2) years of Supervisory experience in related field.
Experience working in Healthcare and/or acute care environment.
Previous experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with software programs related to Portering and EVS management.
Working knowledge of all Infection Control, Standard Precautions and Health & Safety procedures.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, both individually and in group settings.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional administrative and organizational abilities, with a talent for prioritization.
