Job Summary
The position will have full accountability for the client portfolio. The Senior Account Manager is responsible for contributing to all levels of strategic strategy development, budgeting communication, penetration, satisfaction, execution and financial growth for new business within their portfolio. The Sr. Account Manager will be a leader in the development of the Foodbuy Accounts Team culture, setting a positive example on best practices and a willingness to share opportunities to align across shared values.
Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Senior Account Managers, we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- The position is expected to drive Managed Volume, Revenue & Profit growth, as well as client satisfaction & retention, through the development and execution of Market & Client specific strategies and actions that promote increased participation to purchasing programs. This will include the identification and implementation of new internal & external department solutions, as well as the continued development and improvement in the ongoing relationships with the internal & external stakeholders within Foodbuy Canada, Foodbuy US, Suppliers, Distributors, & Clients.
- The Sr. Account Manager is accountable for a complete P&L budget that includes client managed volume, total revenue, Foodbuy/Compass revenue, all overhead expenses and PBIT for their portfolio.
- The Sr. Account Manager is responsible for all resources required to achieve and exceed the budget that include but are not limited to travel, client events, technology & innovation. This role will interact with the vendor community to represent the interests of all MDG clients within their portfolio, associates and end users. Developing key relationships with top tier vendors will be critical to the success of this role.
- The Sr. Account Manager will be accountable for driving revenue & profit growth, client retention, client satisfaction and increased participation in contracted programs. This position will also be expected to anticipate client contract renewals and handle negotiations and agreement extensions.
- The client portfolio will be predominantly made up of clients that are Tier I, Regional/National, Platform Members, high managed volume and revenue/profit potential, highly engaged.

- 5+ years of professional Account Management Experience
- 5+ years of experience working with external organization’s senior executive leadership teams to influence change
- 5+ years of significant experience in budgeting process including expense and profit management
- 5+ years of strategic account planning
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related studies
- Prior experience interacting, communicating, negotiating and collaborating with executive level professionals
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset
