Now, if you were to come on board as one of our Sector Controllers we’d ask you to do the following for us:
- Own the accuracy and integrity of the financial statements for your assigned branches by reconciling balances to supporting source documents (contracts, vendor invoices, inventory counts, and subledgers).
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring every account is supported, variances are investigated and cleared, and aged or unsupported items are resolved on a timely basis.
- Prepare month-end accruals and reversals with sound supporting documentation, and ensure the accounting treatment follows GAAP and client contract terms.
- Perform the month-end P&L review: analyze actual-to-budget and period-over-period variances, trace unusual items back to source transactions, and document explanations.
- Reconcile subledgers (AR, AP, inventory, fixed assets, payroll) to the general ledger and investigate and correct discrepancies before close.
- Maintain clear audit trails and reconciliation support that meet internal control, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Automate recurring reconciliations and monthly reporting to reduce manual effort and error, and translate findings into clear recommendations for FP&A, District General Managers, and Branch Managers.
- Help unit managers understand and fulfill the financial terms and obligations of client contracts, including billing, commissions, and revenue recognition.
- Respond to financial queries from Operations and Management, providing timely, accurate, and well-supported information.
- Provide backup support to Accounts Receivable for vacation coverage only.
- Other accounting duties as assigned.
